Ana de Armas: Thank you academy for making this dream come true

We had earlier reported that Ana de Armas created history by being the first Cuban to be nominated under the Best Actress category  (for her film Blonde)at the Oscars. . Taking to Instagram, the actor has penned a brief, emotional note, 

“Wow! I am over the moon. Thank you all, for your love and support, for all your messages, calls, and videos. My heart has never been fuller! What an unbelievable day, what a beautiful honor. Thank you to the academy for making this dream come true.”

In Blonde, the actor plays the iconic Marilyn Monroe. Ana de Armas previously bagged nominations at the SAG and BAFTA awards as well. While Blonde was criticised severely, Ana’s performance as the Hollywood icon was praised by actors and critics alike. This is her first Academy Award nomination, previously she earned a nomination at the Golden Globes for her performance in Knives Out

The others in the nomination for Best Lead Actress include Cate Blanchett for Tár, Andrea Riseborough for To Leslie, Michelle Williams for The Fabelmans, and Michelle Yeoh for Everything Everywhere All at Once.

The Oscars ceremony, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, is scheduled to take place on March 12 at the Dolby Theatre, USA.
