Rupert Grint found Ron weasley suffocating

Actor Rupert Grint, who is known for his role as Ron Weasley in the famous Harry Potter film franchise, has recently opened up about his role in the films. In an interview with Bustle magazine, the actor said that playing the character from age 11 to 22 “was quite suffocating”.

He opened up that he eventually could not easily find the line between himself and the character.  “In the movies, we merged into one. By the end of it, I was playing myself. The lines were blurred,” he shared. He added that he even answers if someone calls him Ron.

He continued, “Potter was so full on — [filming] all year, then we’d promote the rest of the time.” While he is appreciative and thankful for all the opportunities her received, he said that he wanted a break to reflect on everything. “It was an out-of-body experience for a while, but I think we finished at the right time. If we continued, it could’ve gone downhill,” said Grint.

All the cast members of Harry Potter came together in 2022 for HBO Max’s Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts special. Sharing that he felt that it was too soon to have a reunion, he added that the experience was really unique that only the core group knew.

Currently, Grint is doing more darker projects with thriller and horror series and films. His recent work includes Tony Basgallop’s Servant and Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities. He is working on M. Night Shyamalan’s upcoming film, Knock at the Cabin. He shared that “there’s something therapeutic about these roles.”
