Stranger Things animated series finalised at Netflix

Netflix has closed the deal on a new Stranger Things animated series that will be created by Matt and Ross Duffer. With Erick Robles attached as an executive producer, Flying Bark Productions is already developing the currently untitled series. In a statement shared by the Duffer brothers along with the announcement, they said that the new show is inspired by classic “Saturday morning cartoons.”

Details about the characters and plot are kept under wraps. Via the Upside Down Pictures Banner, the brothers will return as executive producers on the series. They will be joined by Shawn Levy, Stranger Things director, and Dan Cohen.

For the unversed, Stranger Things is a Netflix original sci-fi series set in the 80s. It follows a group of teens and their parents coming face to face with a dark mysterious secret lurking beneath the town of Hawkins, Indiana.

Previously, a Stranger Things stage play titled, Stranger Things: The First Shadow was announced. The show is all set to open in London’s West End in December. The play will be set in 1959 and will revolve around Hopper and Joyce Byers when they were High school students. It will show Henry Creel as a new student with a dark secret and will act as a prequel to Stranger Things
