In a media interaction ahead of the release of Yaanai, actor Arun Vijay assured that the Hari directorial will be a thoroughly engaging film, and will impact the audience who’d leave with a heavy heart.
The makers also screened a new glimpse of the film during the event, which gave a new colour to the expectations from Yaanai.
Yaanai is scheduled to hit approximately 1,100 screens worldwide on July 1. Besides Arun Vijay, the film also stars Priya Bhavani Shankar, Samuthirakani, Yogi Babu, Ammu Abirami, KGF-fame Ramachandra Raju, Radikaa Sarathkumar, among others.
Yaanai marks the maiden collaboration between Arun Vijay and his brother-in-law and ace director Hari. This was a much-awaited outing, and the makers left no stone unturned during the promotional drives that saw the team extensively travel across Tamil Nadu, and even Malaysia. “Yaanai will not just be an engaging film but will also leave the audience with a heavy heart. This is a film that is best suited for the theatrical experience. Yaanai is being received well during the promotions and it is a big release for me. We have put genuine efforts into making this film,” the actor added.
Taking the mic next, Hari asserted that a film’s success also depends on the promotions. Billing Yaanai as an “emotional family drama,” the director said, “We travelled across districts in Tamil Nadu to meet people and observe their real emotions. Like how people market products door-to-door, we played the trailer to the public and saw their reactions.”
GV Prakash, who is working with Hari and Arun Vijay for the first time in Yaanai, said, “I don’t often get opportunities to compose folk music that is rooted in our ethos. I got that opportunity in Asuran, and after that Yaanai gave me the chance to explore such type of music. The songs are emotional and genuine. It is close to my heart.”
Delving into the working style of Hari, GV Prakash revealed that the director gave him references from across South India while composing for Yaanai. “I really enjoyed working with Hari sir, who worked as enthusiastic as a young director,” he added.
Yaanai has been censored with a U/A certificate, and will release in Telugu as Enugu.
