Veteran director Guillermo del Toro will develop a stop-motion adaption of Nobel Prize-winning British writer Kazuo Ishiguro’s fantasy novel The Buried Giant for Netflix.
The Buried Giant follows an elderly couple living in a fictional post-Arthurian England where no one can retain long-term memories.
Directed and produced by Del Toro, The Buried Giant adaptation will have the script penned by Del toro along with Dennis Kelly. Pinocchio’s animation studio ShadowMachine will be reteaming with Del Toro once again for the upcoming project.
The auteur’s last release was Pinocchio -another stop-animation adaptation of Carlo Collodi’s The Adventures of Pinocchio, which also streamed on Netflix. The film earned a Best Animated Feature nomination at the 95th Academy Awards.
