The film hit the theatres on June 1

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, which hit the theatres on June 1, is receiving great responses from audiences. One of the interesting aspects is that a 14-year-old school boy named Preston Mutanga got an opportunity to work in the film.

According to Deadline, Mutanga created a replica of the first trailer of the film with Legos. After that, he was invited to work on the actual film. The New York Times report noted that writer-producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller had already planned to have a Legos scene and hence when they saw his work they decided to invite him.

“I know Preston has a gift that was given to him by God, and once we identified that he had that gift, all we could do as parents was to nurture it and let him fly,” Preston’s mother, Gisele Mutanga, told the Times. Lord also stated that The Lego Movie was inspired by people making films with Lego bricks at home. “That’s what made us want to make the movie. Then the idea in Spider-Verse is that a hero can come from anywhere. And here comes this heroic young person who’s inspired by the movie that was inspired by people like him.”

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is the sequel to the 2018 film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson, the film is penned by Phil Lord along with Christopher Miller and David Callaham.
