We had earlier reported that Aishwarya Rajesh and GV Prakash Kumar will be starring in a film. The makers have now announced that the film is titled Dear, while releasing the motion poster of the film.
The motion poster shows Aishwarya as Deepika and GV Prakash as Arjun, sleeping vertically on the either sides of the bed. Aishwarya seems snoring much to the chargin of the other person.
Speaking to Cinema Express, filmmaker Anand Ravichandran who earlier directed Sethum Aayiram Pon, said about Dear, “It is a family drama and based on a husband and wife. It deals with a particular conflict that has happened in my house as well and the film tells how this particular family deals with it. It is a very middle-class issue and if I want to put it exactly, it will be more of Ayushmann Khurrana genre. It is a couple story and starts off from the wedding to what it takes to have a long lasting marriage.”
On casting Aishwarya and GV Prakash who will be working together for the first time, the director said that both of them have become household names, and at the same time known for doing interesting characters in the past. “They have boy/girl-next-door image and they can slip into relatable people we would have seen,” he added.
Anand, who has written the film as well, conceived the idea during the lockdown. The film stars Thalaivasal Vijay, Rohini, Kaali Venkat, and Nandhini (of Blacksheep channel fame) as GV Prakash’s side of the family, while actors Ilavarasu, Geeta Kailasam.
The film went on floors in December, with the talkie portions completed. The makers have still have a few song portions to be shot. Dear was shot in Kunnur and Chennai. The technical crew consists of GV Prakash scoring the music, with cinematography by Jagadeesh Sundaramurthy and editor is Rukesh. “We have used sync sound and is done by Raghav Ramesh, with costumes by Anusha. Musically, we will have seven tracks and it plays an important part of the story.”
The makers are looking for a theatrical release sometime in July.
