Actor Drew Barrymore recently announced that there will be no sequel to the E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. She revealed that the film’s director Steven Spielberg told her that he will never make a follow-up as he doesn’t want to be “greedy” or “water down” its impact.
Speaking to E! News, Barrymore said, “Steven Spielberg became like a father to me, and I remember sitting in his house one day and he said to me, ‘I will never make a sequel to this movie. And I really understood were he was coming from – (it was) something so beautiful and contained, and (he said) ‘I don’t want to be greedy and water it down in any way.'”
The actor noted that even though she worked in the media since she was a toddler she always feels like an outsider. The 1982 film is written by Melissa Mathison. The film tells the tale of Elliott, who becomes friends with an extraterrestrial. And he, with his friends and family, find a way to help him reach his home.
