Udhayanidhi Stalin

Actor-politician Udhayanidhi Stalin was sworn in as state minister on Wednesday. Following the announcement, he has revealed that his upcoming film with Mari Selvaraj, Maamannan, will be his last one.

The politician has been given the Minister of Youth Welfare and Sports Development portfolio.

As quoted by The News Minute, Udhayanidhi said to the media, “No, I am not acting anymore. I was supposed to act in a movie produced by Kamal sir. When he came to know about this, he was the first one to congratulate. The last film would be Maamannan with Thiru Mari Selvaraj.”

With Maamannan being Udhayanidhi’s last film, it is yet to be known if the film under Kamal Haasan’s production will be dropped altogether or reprised with fresh casting. Earlier, it was announced that Udhayanidhi will star in a film, backed by Haasan’s RKFI banner. It is also unclear if Udhayanidhi will continue distributing films under his Red Giant Movies banner.

Kamal Haasan took to Twitter to congratulate Udhayanidhi and wrote, “Congratulations brother. You have become a minister. I hope you will not think of it as a position but accept it as a responsibility and the experience of three generations will help you. There are expectations. Your success lies in fulfilment.”

Meanwhile, Udhayanidhi’s last film Maamannan stars Keerthy Suresh, Fahadh Faasil, and Vadivelu among others.
