The Sandman showrunners Allan Heinberg and Neil Gaiman have revealed that the fans “are not prepared” for what they have planned for season 2. In a recent interview, the showrunners have revealed their plans for the second season. David S Goyer, who is co-producing the show, has revealed in an interview that the writing for season 2 is already underway. Season 2 will reportedly see more of Lucifer, played by Gwendoline Christie. Netflix is yet to officially greenlight the second season of the show.

The series is an adaptation of the DC comic book series written by Neil Gaiman, first published in 1989. The Netflix show, which premiered on 5 August, covered the first two volumes of the 10-volume series. 

The Sandman follows Morpheus, the lord of dreams, as he escapes hundred years of captivity and tries to rebuild his realm, which was destroyed in his absence. The show also has the anthropomorphic representation of concepts like Death, Desire, Despair, and Destiny. The show has Tom Sturridge playing Dream, while Boyd Holbrook, Vivienne Acheampong, Patton Oswalt, Jenna Coleman, Joely Richardson, Mark Hamill, Stephen Fry, and David Thewlis.
