Author Neil Gaiman recently revealed that it is possible to move The Sandman to other streaming platforms if Netflix decides to pull the plug on the series. The Sandman is a live-action series adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s acclaimed fantasy comic book of the same name. The series received critical acclaim for faithfully adapting the book and went on to garner 127 million hours worth of watch time.
Despite the overwhelmingly positive response, no official announcement was made by Netflix regarding the future of the series. Known for being active on Twitter, the author is repeatedly getting queries about the series renewal. Gaiman had previously said on Twitter that the series’ popularity might not be enough for a green light from Netflix and that the studio executives are looking to see the overall response after viewers finish binging the series.
In a recent interaction with a fan on Twitter, Gaiman was asked if it was possible for the series to move to other networks like Apple+, Prime Video, and Disney+, to which he replied positively.
The Sandman, which premiered on Netflix on 5 August, recently released a two-part bonus episode that expanded the lore of The Sandman universe.
