Nicolas Cage in all his bloodthirsty glory in Renfield, an upcoming horror comedy. He portrays the iconic role of Dracula in the film. Total Film Magazine recently revealed new images from Renfield, starring Nicholas Hoult, Nicolas Cage, and Awkwafina.

The film, directed by Chris McKay, follows Renfield (Hoult), Dracula’s (Cage) loyal servant, and how his life changes when he moves to New Orleans and falls in love with Rebecca Quincy (Awkwafina), a traffic cop.

Renfield must leave Dracula and his former life behind as he struggles to regain his normalcy. The issue is that the world’s most famous vampire will not easily accept his helper’s choice.

Cage recently revealed details about his role as Dracula in an interview with Total film, which he said provided plenty of challenges due to the character’s long-established history in the film.

“The concept of Dracula is a challenge,” Cage told Total film. “It’s been done so many times already. It’s been done very well, and it’s also been done not very well. I certainly admire Christopher Lee and Frank Langella and Bela Lugosi, and Gary Oldman. But I wanted to see if I could bring something fresh to the character. And I also kind of always knew I had to do it at some point.”

The film is set for release on April 14, 2023.
