Netflix released a trailer for the series adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s graphic novel titled The Sandman. The streaming giant unveiled the trailer at San Diego Comic-Con on Sunday.

The fantasy series revolves around the lord of dreams named Morpheus, among other mythical characters like Death, Despair, Desire, Delirium, Destruction, Lord of Chaos & Order, and Lucifer. The story, which takes us through different realms and time periods, kicks off after Morpheus, the lord of Dreams, is captured.

The live-action adaptation of the popular graphic novel is written by the author Neil Gaiman himself, along with Allan Heinberg, who is also on board as the show-runner. The writer of Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy, David S Goyer, is executive producing the show.

The ensemble cast includes Tom Sturridge, playing Morpheus, along with Gwendoline Christie, Boyd Holbrook, Charles Dance, Asim Chaudhry, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Mason Alexander Park, Donna Preston, and Jenna Coleman. Patton Oswalt and Mark Hamill are voicing characters like Matthew the Raven and Mervyn Pumpkinhead respectively.

Netflix’s The Sandman is scheduled to premiere on 5 August 2022.
