Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu, the upcoming Tamil film starring Silambarasan, will have a sequel, the director of the film Gautham Vasudev Menon, has confirmed.

The announcement was made during the audio-trailer launch of the film. “This is the story of a common man. The story does not end with this film, it will continue,” the director said.

Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu is expected to be a gangster film, and the first part is speculated to be the origin story of the character and the sequel will concentrate on the rise of the character within the underworld.

The film’s script is written by Jeyamohan. The film’s technical crew consists of Siddhartha Nuni as the cinematographer, with editing by Anthony. Siddhi Idnani is the female lead, and Radikaa Sarathkumar, Siddique, Neeraj Madhav and Aangelina Abraham are also part of the cast.

It is produced by Vels Film International, and will release on September 15. It will be distributed by Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Red Giant Films.
