While everyone is scrambling to make the most out of 2022’s last few days, the Tamil film industry is trying to do the same. Around five films are reportedly scheduled to hit the theatres on 30 December while the Tamil remake of the critically acclaimed Malayalam film The Great Indian Kitchen is set to arrive on 29 December. According to reports, the list of films slated to release on the 30th includes Sembi, Raangi, Tamilarasan, Oh My Ghost, and Driver Jamuna

The Tamil remake of The Great Indian Kitchen has Aishwarya Rajesh playing the lead role in the film while Rahul Ravindran plays the male lead opposite her. The film talks about the many types of subtle oppressions in a marriage and how that ends up overwhelming a young wife. The Great Indian Kitchen is directed by R Kannan who is best known for films like Kanden Kadhalai, Settai, and Biskoth. Aishwarya Rajesh’s second entry in the year-end race is a thriller titled Driver Jamuna. The film is directed by Kinslin, who made his debut with the 2013 film Vathikuchi.  With music composed by Ghibran, the film has Aadukalam Naren, Kavitha Bharathi, and Abhishek Kumar in supporting roles.

Sembi is a Prabhu Solomon directorial that stars Kovai Sarala in a dramatic role along with Ashwin Kumar and Thambi Ramaiah. Sembi revolves around a group of 24 passengers on a bus journey from Kodaikanal to Dindigul. Raangi, which stars Trisha in the lead role, is an action thriller that starts in Chennai and follows a network of crime and an international political conspiracy that leads the protagonist on a wild chase across the borders. The film is directed by Engaeyum Eppothum fame M Saravanan and is based on a story penned by AR Murugadoss.

Vijay Antony’s upcoming film Tamilarasan is directed by Babu Yogeswaran, who had earlier made the 2005 Jayam Ravi starrer Daas. The long-delayed film has Remya Nambessan playing the female lead along with Sangeetha, Munishkanth, Robo Shankar, and Yogi Babu in supporting roles. Oh My Ghost is a horror-comedy that has Sunny Leone playing the lead role along with Sathish, Yogi Babu, and Darsha Gupta in prominent roles.
