Steven Yeun about performing in Beef: Our bodies shut down

Actors Steven Yeun and Ali Wong are all set to be seen together in Netflix’s upcoming 10-episode series, Beef.  Beef follows a road rage incident between two strangers, a failing contractor, played by Steven Yeun, and an unfulfilled entrepreneur, portrayed by Ali Wong. The Rage leads to a feud that brings out the darkest impulses of the strangers.

While the two have no hard feelings for each other outside the shoot, the actors have recently said that the anger began to consume them outside of the show as well. Yeun and Wong were asked how they managed to decompress after performing explosive anger on sets, during an interaction following the world premiere of ‘Beef’ at South by Southwest

“Our bodies shut down,” Yeun said. “Steven and I both broke out in hives after the show. Mine was on my face. His was all over his body because he’s weak like that, Wong said. “It definitely took a toll on us, but we didn’t even realise until after the show ended. I mean, I won’t even talk about what happened to your elbow.”

Quoted by Variety, she then added, “I don’t think we knew that was going to happen. If we knew what we were going to put our bodies and minds through, maybe we wouldn’t have said yes, but we’re really glad we did.”

Beef will be available for streaming on Netflix from April 6.
