Actor Suriya has cast his vote for Oscars 2023. He was one of the members selected to join the Oscar organiser’s membership ranks. The Class of 2022 includes 71 Oscar nominees and 15 winners. Suriya was the first Tamil actor to join the Oscar committee. Kajol and Reema Kagti were the other members selected to represent India this year.
Last year’s Oscar winners Ariana DeBose, Troy Kotsur and CODA writer-director Sian Heder had also been invited to the Directors and Writers branches. The invitees will have to pick a branch and be part of it. There are a total of 17 AMPAS branches including Directors and Writers.
Billie Eilish, Finneas O’Connell, Caitrione Balfe, Jesse Buckley, Olga Merediz, Kodi Smit-MPhee, Anya Taylor Joy and several others had been invited to vote this year.
On the career front, Suriya is waiting to resume the shooting for his mega-budget actioner Suriya42 with director Siva. Starring Disha Patani as the lead the film is expected to be released in two parts in all South Indian languages.
