Earlier, we had reported that The Super Mario Bros. Movie had scored the biggest box office opening ever for an animated film. The latest update is that the film, released in the first week of April, has crossed $900M globally.

According to the Deadline, the film grossed $901.2M, with $444M from domestic and $457.2M at the international box office, for 21 days of its theatrical release.

Global entertainment brands Illumination and Nintendo jointly created the animated fantasy action film based on the video game franchise Mario. Despite the colossal success, the film received mixed reviews, “With impeccable animation, funny lines that fall flat, and ample amounts of member berries, the film is little more than a movie-length reminder of the beloved video game franchise”, reads the CE review of the film.”

Directed by Aaron Horvath, and Michael Jelenic, the film has Chris Pratt voicing Mario while Anya-Taylor Joy voices Princess Peach, Charlie Day voices Luigi, and Jack Black voices Bowser.
