The Super Mario Bros Movie, the screen adaptation of the videogame franchise, will hit Chinese cinemas on April 5. The film will hit the US screens on April 7. 

According to Deadline, the film’s early release in China will coincide with the Ching Ming Festival in the country.

Created by the Japanese video game company Nintendo, the first game was released in 1985. Over the years, the franchise became a global phenomenon and currently has around 20 games.

Directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, The Super Mario Bros. Movie has a script from Matthew Fogel.

The film stars Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek and Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike.
