The trailer of Maamannan, the upcoming Tamil film starring Udhayanidhi Stalin and Vadivelu in the lead role, was released by the makers on social media on Friday.

Without revealing the plot, Maamannan‘s trailer shows the subject that Mari Selvaraj is known to handle in his films, oppression and fight for justice and equality. There is a pack of indie dogs running, struggle for power dynamics in the scene, but what holds the trailer is the voiceover by Vadivelu, who echoes a strong and persistent voice.  The trailer also has Vadivelu at the centre of the drama, classic shots of Mari, such as a man atop a horse, cries, and black and white shots.

The film also stars Keerthy Suresh and Fahadh Faasil in prominent roles.

Helmed by Mari Selvaraj, Maamannan is the filmmaker’s third directorial after Karnan and Pariyerum Perumal. Maamanann is set to release in theatres on June 29 and has music scored by AR Rahman. Maamannan has cinematography by Theni Eswar while editing is being handled by Selva.

It is to be noted that Maamannan will be Udhayanidhi’s last film before he assigns himself to a full-fledged political career. Maamannan is backed Red Giant Movies banner.
