Prakash Raj on Independence Day celebrations: I can't rejoice when  women and minorities are suffering

Today marks the 77th Independence Day of India. Though the nation is celebrating the remarkable event, actor Prakash Raj has shared in an exclusive interaction with us that ‘he cannot rejoice when women and minorities of his land are suffering’. “This is quite an unhappy Independence Day for me. I can’t celebrate when children of my land are left parentless. This is the present scene in Manipur and across the nation.”

He added that true liberty is nowhere to be found as ‘minorities are perenially persecuted and criminals are hailed’. “These days, patriotism is the refuge of the unscrupulous. Fake patriotism has become alarmingly common now. How can anyone with a conscience celebrate our Independence?”

Prakash also stated that now is a time for the citizens to reclaim their freedom and bring peace to the land. “Now is the time for us to stand together and seek answers. Our leaders in the assembly are answerable to us, none of them should take their responsibility lightly like a debate or an election campaign.”

On the work front, Prakash Raj will be next seen in Pawan Kalyan’s OG, Mahesh Babu starrer Guntur Kaaram and Jr NTR’s Devara.
