Glimpse of Kanguva: Suriya dons a mighty warrior's cape in his 42nd film

On Sunday, as promised, the makers of Kanguva released a glimpse into the world of the film. The release came to mark the occasion of actor Suriya’s 48th birthday.

The glimpse starts with a voiceover narrating the lineage of Suriya’s Kanguva, while also listing the bravest of valourous acts performed by the character. We then see Suriya’s Kanguva with a skeleton mask, hurling his burning spear towards an enemy at war. While a short song celebrated the bravery of Kanguva, Suriya comes close to the camera, looks eye to eye at the watchers, and asks, “Is all well?”

“The film is set 1500 years ago and uses elements from ancient Tamil culture as well as other cultures from all over India. Kanguva is a fictional story set in an imaginary world with strong historical references and facts,” director Siva had earlier said to CE.

Kanguva will have cinematography by Siva’s frequent collaborator, Vetri Palanisamy, production design by Milan and editing by Nishad Yusuf. Supreme Sundar will be choreographing the action sequences, while Narayana has co-written the script. The dialogues are by Madhan Karky.

Backed by Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green, Kanguva is aimed at an early 2024 release in 10 languages and 3D. The film marks the actor’s 42nd outing. Kanguva is co-produced by UV Creations and Studio Green.
