Arjun Das pens a heartfelt note on Aneethi

Following the release of Aneethi, actor Arjun Das recently took to his social media handle to pen a heartfelt note. He extended gratitude to the cast, crew, and the audience. 

He wrote, "I'm not sure where to start, but I'm just filled with gratitude. It all started with a phone call from Vasanthabalan Sir. Sir, thank for Thiru and for this beautiful journey. I have learnt so much and will proudly say that I can read your expressions. I you really hope I get to collaborate with you again on the script you narrated to me." 

Noting that GV Prakash is the backbone of Aneethi, he also thanked Shankar for presenting it. He said that he got to learn a lot while working with wonderful actors. 

"A big thank you to the press, print media and the audience for showering me with so much love and appreciation. Your words only push me to continue to work harder and entertain you all with good stories and characters. For those of you who liked the film and performance, all the credit only and only goes to Balan Sir. For those of you didn't, I promise to improve my skill and give it my forward. During the course of this film I broke a toe, lost some flesh on my hand but I continued to shoot. If you ask me why, the reason is that I wanted to see this man smile the way he is smiling now. It all seems worth it. Thanks to all of you. Sending all of you lots & lots of love."

Directed by Vasanthabalan, the revenge thriller also stars Dushara Vijayan. 

It's a wrap for GV Prakash-Aishwarya Rajesh's Dear 

The makers of GV Prakash and Aishwarya Rajesh's Dear announced on Tuesday, that the shooting for the film has been wrapped. The film is helmed by Anand Ravichandran, who has previously directed Sethum Aayiram Pon

In an earlier conversation with CE, director Anand Ravichandran said, "It is a family drama revolving around a husband and wife. It deals with a particular conflict that has happened in my house as well and the film tells how this particular family deals with it. It is a couple's story and starts off with the wedding and ends touching upon what it takes to have a long-lasting marriage."

Thalaivasal Vijay, Rohini, Kaali Venkat, and Nandhini (of Blacksheep channel fame) are the actors who will feature as GV Prakash’s side of the family. On the other hand, actors Ilavarasu, and Geeta Kailasam play Aishwarya's family members. 

Varun Tripuaneni, Abhishek Ramisetty and G Pruthviraj have backed Dear under the Nutmeg Productions banner. The technical crew of the film has GV Prakash himself on music composition, Jagadeesh Sundaramurthy on cinematography and Rukesh from the editing department. 
 

Vijay Sri G: Charu Haasan plays a don who does good for society in Haraa

Earlier, we reported that director Vijay Sri G is all set to direct Mohan in his next film, Haraa. The film also stars the 93-year-old actor Charu Haasan in an important role. It is to be noted that Vijay's Dha Dha 87 (2019) starred Charu Haasan in the lead.  

According to an official press note, Vijay Sri G said, "t is doubtful whether there is an actor who acts with such enthusiasm at the age of 93. Charuhaasan has played a very important role in Haraa."

Shedding more light on the role the nonagenarian plays, he said, "It's normal to think of a don with negative shades. But in this film, Charuhaasan plays the role of a don who does good for society. He performed his scenes with great energy without any fatigue or delay. Many thanks to him and his family members including his daughter Ms Suhasini Mani Ratnam."

Mohan, who was last seen in Sutta Kozhi in 2008, had taken a sabbatical from the Tamil film industry for the past 15 years. Haraa also stars Suresh Menon as the antagonist and Vanitha Vijayakumar, as a Minister. Kushbhu, Yogi Babu, Rajendran, Singam Puli, Deepa, Mime Gopi, Chaams, and Santhosh Prabhakar round out the cast of Haraa. 

Backed by S P Mohan Raj and Jaya Sri Vijay, the core idea of the film is to create awareness about IPC rules, and other concepts like good touch, bad touch, etc. amongst children. 

Actor Paul Reubens passes away 

Actor Paul Reuben, best known for his role in the famous Tim Burton directorial Pee-wee's Big Adventure, passed away at 70 due to cancer. 

Confirming the demise, the actor's  estate posted the following message on Instagram: "Last night we said farewell to Paul Reubens, an iconic American actor, comedian, writer and producer whose beloved character Pee-wee Herman delighted generations of children and adults with his positivity, whimsy and belief in the importance of kindness."

"Paul bravely and privately fought cancer for years with his trademark tenacity and wit. A gifted and prolific talent, he will forever live in the comedy pantheon and in our hearts as a treasured friend and man of remarkable character and generosity of spirit."

It also included a public message penned by Reuben himself, apologising to his fans for not revealing his illness: "Please accept my apology for not going public with what I've been facing the last six years."

"I have always felt a huge amount of love and respect from my friends, fans and supporters. I have loved you all so much and enjoyed making art for you."

Following his massive success with the 1985 Tim Burton film, he went on to star in other spin-offs of the character, such as 'Big Adventures of Pee-Wee', a sequel to the original and 'Pee-wee's Playhouse' which ran for five seasons from 1986,, to 1990.

Reuben was known for his skills at improvisational comedy as well as many of his surrounding controversies regarding indecent exposure, molestation and possession of child pornography, though these charges were dropped, and he has since then remained an icon in Hollywood.

Reubens largely disappeared from the public limelight though he continued to star in some low-budget films. However, he was mostly out of the entertainment scene after being arrested for indecent exposure in 1991. However, he returned later in 2016 for the series 'Pee-wee's Big Holiday'.

Thaman to release Varisu OST containing 25 tracks 

Composer S Thaman, who is currently busy in several Telugu projects, announced that the OST (original sound track) of Vijay's last film Varisu, will be released on August 15. The composer also added that the OST will have more than 24 tracks.

"Guys #VarisuOst is 100 % coming it has more than 25 Solid tracks .. I am working on it . Delay is due to ongoing commitments. I have to put my heart and send it with love to u all !! I knw I have delayed it but this time I Will Not miss it Aug15th i will surely Release it in a Grand Way,” the composer wrote on social media.

Varisu, directed by Vamshi Paidipally, also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Jayasudha, Prakash Raj, Sarath Kumar, Shaam, Yogi Babu, Sangeetha, among others. The film was backed by Sri Venkateswara Creations and PVP Cinema. Varisu released in theatres for Pongal and was met with mixed response, and but was a commercial success.

The film revolves a family of three sons, with the youngest played by Vijay. After a conflict brings the estranged son back to his home, Varisu is about how he uplifts his family business while trying to mend broken ties at his home.

Por Thozhil gets OTT release date 

Por Thozhil, the recently released Tamil film starring actors Ashok Selvan and Sarathkumar in the lead roles, is set to premiere on SonyLIV on August 11, post its successful theatrical run.

The film, directed by debutant filmmaker Vignesh Raja, recently had completed 50 days at the box office. Por Thozhil is a crime investigation thriller which features Ashok Selvan and Sarathkumar as cop duo who are probing the case of a serial killer on a spree to kill women.

Along with the lead actors, the film also features Sarath Babu, Nikhila Vimal, Nizhalgal Ravi, Sunil Sukhada among others. It is to be noted that Por Thozhil marks late Sarath Bab’s final film.

Vignesh Raja has written Por Thozhil along with Alfred Prakash. The film's technical crew includes Kalaiselvan Sivaji as the cinematographer, Sreejith Sarangm as the editor, and Jakes Bejoy as the music composer. The film is attached to Applause Entertainment studio, which marks its maiden Tamil project with Por Thozhil.
