Maamannan, the recently released Tamil film starring Udhayanidhi Stalin and Vadivelu in the lead roles, and directed by Mari Selvaraj, has been getting praises since its release on Thursday. The latest to shower praises on the film is director Karthik Subbaraj.

Taking to Twitter, Karthik commended the film and congratulated the team for its success. He wrote, “Maamannan Sits tall in moments showcasing the strong voice of Mari Selvaraj about Caste in Politics and vice versa..Super awesome performance by Vadivelu sir supported by strong performances of Fahadh Faasil, Udhayanidhi Stalin sir and Keerthy Suresh with intense music of AR Rahman sir elevating it.”

Maamannan stars Fahadh as the dominant caste person and antagonist, while Vadivelu plays an MLA. Udhayanidhi plays the latter’s son. The political social drama is set against the backdrop of Salem and talks about the caste politics, play of power and its implications. The film has music by AR Rahman, and cinematography by Theni Eshwar. It is to be noted that Maamannan is Udhayanidhi’s last film as actor, before he assigns himself to full fledged political career.
