Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s season of horror continued on Monday as they slumped to their fifth straight loss in the IPL 2024. This time it happened against SunRisers Hyderabad after conceding a record 287/3 – the most in T20 franchise cricket history. With the loss, RCB’s road to playoffs has become tougher. For the game, RCB dropped two big stars – Mohammed Siraj and Glenn Maxwell. The latter, despite having the reputation of being a big-hitter, has not been able to fire in the IPL 2024.

His scores in the IPL 2024 reads 0, 3, 28, 0, 1  and 0. Ahead of the game vs SRH, Sunil Gavaskar blasted the Australia star.

“He has been unable to play fast bowling, period. Balls bouncing to his chest or shoulder height are troubling him. He can whack every ball below his waist height but not the ones above that,” Sunil Gavaskar was quoted as saying on Star Sports by Hindustan Times.

He went on to explain how Glenn Maxwell would continue to be at the receiving end. “In India, the weather till April 20 favours fast bowling on Indian tracks. And when the pacers will reap success, Maxwell will surely find himself at the receiving end. It is just as we say in Hindi, “Naam Bade Par Darshan Chote,” Gavaskar said.

“And it’s not just Maxwell. Several big-ticket players are finding it difficult to read bowling. So when he gets out in the match, the balls that remain low, he will score against them.”

Talking about the RCB vs SRH game, Travis Head the fourth smashed the fourth fastest IPL ton in 39 deliveries to take his team to 287/3. In reply, Dinesh Karthik played a highly entertaining knock for Royal Challengers Bengaluru, slamming 83 in just 35 deliveries. However, Pat Cummins‘ three-for helped Sunrisers Hyderabad beat Royal Challengers Bengaluru by 25 runs.

It was a run-fest to remember for all T20 fans as the match produced 549 runs, which is the highest aggregate total for a T20 match.
