Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has backed Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Hardik Pandya to hit 6 sixes in an over in the upcoming T20 World Cup in the Americas. Making his MI captaincy debut this season, Hardik is going through a rought patch with both bat and ball. He has been often criticised for his leadership, as well as his batting strike-rate. During a recent interaction with ICC, Yuvraj was asked to pick a player who he thinks could hit 6 sixes in an over during the upcoming T20 World Cup.

Yuvraj, who had struck England pacer Stuart Broad for six sixes during the T20 World Cup in 2007, took Hardik’s name, while snubbing the likes of Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav.

“Probably Hardik Pandya, I would say,” Yuvraj said in a video uploaded by ICC.

Despite backing from several former cricketers, Hardik’s place in the T20 World Cup squad remains an uncertainity owing to his poor form in the ongoing season of IPL.

Hardik is currently fighting for a place in the squad with CSK all-rounder Shivam Dube.

However, Yuvraj feels that both Hardik and Dube should be part of the India squad as he wants to see more explosive batters utilised in the middle order.

“I would like to see Shivam Dube in the squad. He has been in and out of the (India) team, but this IPL he has been batting very well and he is someone who can be the game-changer. There are a lot of other guys who have been playing for a while now, but I would like to see Shivam Dube in the mix,” Yuvraj added.

The T20 World Cup kicks off June 2 in the West Indies and the USA, with India’s first game on June 5 against Ireland in New York.
