Vishal's Mark Antony trailer to be out on this date

The trailer of Vishal and SJ Suryah's Mark Antony will be released on September 3. The makers took to social media to reveal the trailer announcement date with a new poster featuring Vishal who is seated in a chair amidst a backdrop of multiple guns.

The X (Formerly Twitter) handle of Vishal Film Factory posted a video announcing that the invites for the grand trailer launch pre-event will be sent out soon.  

Apart from Vishal and SJ Suryah, the film features an ensemble cast, including Sunil, Selvaraghavan, Ritu Varma, Abhinaya, Kingsley, and Y G Mahendran, among others. 

Billed as a gangster action drama, the film's teaser, released earlier, suggests that the film exudes an element of time travel that allows Vishal and SJ Suryah to play multiple roles from different timelines.

The technical crew of Mark Antony comprises music composer GV Prakash Kumar, cinematographer Abhinandan Ramanujam and editor Vijay Velukutty. The film, slated to hit theatres on Vinayaga Chathurthi (15th September), will be released in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.

Kalanithi Maran gifts cheque to Nelson Dilipkumar after Jailer's success

Following the massive success of superstar Rajinikanth's Jailer, Sun Group's chairman and founder Kalanithi Maran met director Nelson Dilipkumar and presented him with a cheque.

Sharing pictures from the happy occasion, the official X (formerly Twitter) handle of Sun Pictures wrote, "Mr Kalanithi Maran congratulated @Nelsondilpkumar and handed over a cheque to him, celebrating the Mega Blockbuster #Jailer." 

Sun Pictures, the production house bankrolling the action entertainer, earlier in the day met Rajinikanth and presented a cheque to him. He offered him a choice of two cars as a gift. Rajinikanth selected the luxurious BMW X7 from the options. The production house previously bankrolled Rajinikanth films such as Enthiran (2010), Petta (2019), and Annaatthe (2021).

Jailer hit theatres on August 10, and it has minted a sum of more than Rs 500 crores at the worldwide box office. Apart from Rajinikanth, the cast also features, Ramya Krishnan, Vasanth Ravi, Vinayak, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa, Sunil, and Tamannaah. It also has cameo appearances by stalwarts of the Indian film industries, including Mohanlal, Shivrajkumar, and Jackie Shroff.

The film opened to mixed to positive responses and has Anirudh Ravichander as the music composer and Vijay Karthik Kannan handling the cinematography. Jailer marks Nelson's fourth directorial after Beast (2022), Doctor (2021) and Kolamavu Kokila (2018).

Jayam Ravi- Nayanthara's Iraivan trailer to be out on this date 

We know that Jayam Ravi and Nayanthara have teamed up for an upcoming film titled Iraivan. The latest update about the film is that its trailer will be unveiled on September 3. The makers shared the news through their social media handles, along with a glimpse of the trailer. 

 

 

Directed by Ahmed, Iraivan is billed as a commercial entertainer. The glimpse hints that Jayam Ravi would be essaying a cop character. Iraivan will have music by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Jayam Ravi has previously played cops in films like Thani Oruvan and Bogan.

Backed by Sudhan Sundaram and Jayaram G of Passion Studios, Iraivan has cinematography by Hari K Vedanth and editing by Manikanda Balaji.

Iraivan marks the second collaboration between Jayam Ravi and Ahmed after Jana Gana Mana, a big-budget spy thriller, which is yet to be completed. The film's shoot got stalled halfway due to the pandemic-induced restrictions. Yuvan Shankar Raja is the composer for Jana Gana Mana as well.

On the work front, Jayam Ravi, who was last seen in Ponniyin Selvan 2, is also filming for Siren along with Keerthy Suresh. Nayanthara, on the other hand, is gearing up for her big Bollywood debut with the Atlee directorial Jawan, which stars Shah Rukh Khan in the lead.

 The film is set to release in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. 

Vemal's Thudikkum Karangal gets a new release date 

Earlier, we had reported that actor Vemal would be headlining an upcoming film titled Thudikkum Karangal, helmed by Velu Doss. It has now been learned that the film will hit the theatres on September 8. It was scheduled to hit the theatres on September 1. 

The film is backed by K Annadurai. The filmmaker has co-produced the film along with Kalidoss. With Rammy as the cinematographer, the film features Lawrence Kishore as the editor and Ragav Prasad as the music composer. 

An earlier released trailer of the film showcases Vemal taking down criminals. Apart from Vemal, the film also has Sathish and Misha Narang in key roles.

Meanwhile, Vemal was last seen in Deiva Machan and Kulasamy. The actor has a slew of films in various stages of production, including SandakkariEnga Pattan SothuManjal Kudai, and Lucky. 

Eighteen years of Tamannaah: The actor pens a note calling acting her true love

It's been eighteen long years since Tamannaah began her acting career. The actor marks her glorious journey by entering into the attire of a new character that she had never attempted before, a cop, in Disney Plus Hotstar's series Aakhri Sach. Encapsulating both the benchmarks in her career, Tamannaah pens a brief note on her Instagram account. 

"From teen dreams to adult realisations. From a damsel in distress and the girl next door to a badass bouncer and now a fearless investigator… what a ride it's been! 18 years on this journey to eternity with my first true love acting, " Tamannaah begins her note by reminiscing her journey so far. 

On mentioning her character, Anya, in Aakhri Sach, Tamannaah adds, Anya is an extremely special role for me. Playing a cop in a gripping narrative like Aakhri Sach was a challenge for sure, but one I welcomed with open arms. My attempt was to channel every emotion into this character and do complete justice to it. Hope you guys like Anya!"

 

Tamannaah began her acting career with the Hindi film Chand Sa Roshan Chehra in 2005. Then she went on to star in Telugu and Tamil films and established herself as a successful heroine who acted alongside most of the superstars in the southern industry, including Chiranjeevi, Vijay, Surya, Ram Charan, Ajith and Prabhas, among others. She also tasted her share of success in Hindi films as well.

Meanwhile, Aakhri Sach, directed by Robbie Grewal, is based on the Burari deaths, a spine-chilling case that shocked the country. The series also stars Abhishek Banerjee, Shivin Narang, Danish Iqbal, Nishu Dikshit, Kriti Vij and Sanjeev Chopra, among others. 

Jailer's success: Kalanithi Maran gifts brand new BMW X7 to Rajinikanth

Following the spectacular success of Jailer, the CEO of Sun Pictures, Kalanithi Maran, has gifted a brand new BMW X7 to actor Rajinikanth. Sun Pictures has shared the news through their social media handles.

The video shared by Sun Pictures shows Kalanithi Maran presenting two brand-new vehicles to the superstar, with the caption stating that the actor can choose the one he prefers.

Another tweet from the media conglomerate revealed that Kalanithi welcomed Rajni with a check and a bouquet.

 

The film, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, hit the theatres on August 10, and it has minted a humongous sum of more than Rs 500 crores at the worldwide box office even before it entered the fourth week of the theatrical release.  

Featuring Rajinikanth as Muthuvel Pandian, a former jailer, the film revolves around the character tackling an idol smuggler who imprisoned his son.

It's a wrap for Kashmir schedule of SK21

Raaj Kamal Films International announced on Thursday, that the Kashmir schedule of Sivakarthikeyan's next, tentatively titled SK 21 has been wrapped. The makers also shared photos of the crew having played Holi in celebration of the completion of the first schedule. 

The upcoming film is helmed by Rajkumar Periasamy of Rangoon-fame. Sai Pallavi has been roped in to play the female lead. Costume designer Amritha Ram, action director Stefan Richter and editor Kalaivanan R are also on board. However, the details of the rest of the cast and crew are kept under wraps.

Meanwhile, Sivakarthikeyan was last seen in the Madonne Ashwin directorial, Maaveeran. He awaits the release of Ayalaan, which will hit the theatres for Diwali. The film is directed by Indru Netru Naalai fame Ravikumar.

Nayanthara enters the social media world

Ahead of the release of Nayanthara's debut Bollywood film, Jawan, the actor has taken fans, netizens and film buffs by surprise by finally debuting on Instagram. Her official handle username is 'Nayanthara', and the very first reel on her profile is of her munchkin sons, Uyir and Ulag. 

The reel shows an excited Nayanthara walking onto the frame holding her babies in her hand. All three of them are seen wearing sunglasses and vibing to 'Tiger ka Hukum' from Jailer. Nayanthara has also revealed the faces of her twins through the short reel. She captioned it with the Rajinikanth dialogue, "Naan vandhutaen nu sollu." (Tell people that I have arrived)

Nayanthara's Jawan, in which she will be seen as the lead alongside Shah Rukh Khan, is all set to release on September 7. Meanwhile, she is also filming for her 75th film directed by Nilesh Krishnaa, Ahmed's Iraivan alongside Jayam Ravi, and Test co-starring Siddharth, Madhavan and Meera Jasmine. The makers of Thani Oruvan have announced a sequel to the much-celebrated film, in which she will be reprising her role as Mahima. 

 

New promo of Kavin's Star unveiled 

We had earlier reported that actor Kavin will be replacing Harish Kalyan in the Tamil film titled Star. Directed by Elan of Pyaar Prema Kaadhal (2018) fame, the music will be scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The makers of the film released a special promo on Thursday, on the occasion of the musician's birthday.

The promo starts off by showing the dressing table of an artist, as the protagonist played by Kavin enters. The voice over details the triumphs of a hero against all the odds, as shots of an artist’s unseen frames of life is shown in a dramatic way. Filled with spotlights, camera and script papers, the promo promised Star to be a promising film on a protagonist’s raise.

Speaking on the storyline, Elan explains, “I have reworked the script. While PPK was a rom-com, Star will have a mix of everything including a college story, romance and family drama.” Nearly half the shooting has been completed with the film shot in Mumbai and Chennai.

On the technical front, Ezhil Arasu, who also worked on Dada, will crank the camera for Star, while editing will be handled by Pradeep E Ragav. National Award-winner Sujith Sudhakaran is designing costumes and Vinoth Raj Kumar N is the art director.

Kangal Edho song from Siddharth's Chithha is out

Earlier, we had reported that actor Siddharth would be headlining a film titled Chithha. The film is scheduled to hit the theatres on September 28. Ahead of the film's release, the makers unveiled a song, Kangal Edho, on Thursday. Composed by Dhibu Ninan Thomas, with lyrics penned by Yugabharathi, the song has been sung by Pradeep Kumar and Karthika Vaidyanathan. The melodious song features the talents of Nimisha Sajayan, along with Siddharth.

Chithha is directed by SU Arun Kumar, who previously helmed Pannaiyarum Padminiyum and Sethupathi. The film will also be released in Telugu as Chinaa. 

Chithha is Billed as a thriller drama. The further details about the plot and the cast are yet to be known. However, in an earlier conversation with CE, the director mentioned that the film will explore the love and affection of a Chitthappa (father's younger brother).  

Chittha is backed by Siddharth's home banner, Etaki Entertainments, which has previously produced Kaadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Eppadi and Jil Jung Juk

The technical team of Chithha comprises music composer Dhibu Ninan Thomas, cinematographer Balaji Subramanyam and editor Suresh A Prasad.
